Fujifilm Launches LTO Ultrium 10 Tape Cartridge with 75TB Capacity

Fujifilm has officially unveiled its latest magnetic data storage solution — the FUJIFILM LTO Ultrium 10 Data Cartridge (LTO-10), offering a massive 75TB of compressed storage capacity (30TB uncompressed) per cartridge. Designed for long-term, secure, and scalable data archiving, LTO-10 is the newest entry in the LTO Ultrium standard, now in its 10th generation.

With LTO-10, Fujifilm delivers a 67% increase in uncompressed capacity over its predecessor, LTO-9. This leap is made possible by the company’s newly developed fine hybrid magnetic particles, which merge the strengths of Strontium Ferrite (SrFe) and Barium Ferrite (BaFe) nanoparticles. It marks the first use of these advanced materials in the LTO series, enabling higher data density and improved performance for enterprise-level storage needs.

Beyond capacity, LTO-10 emphasizes data integrity and cost efficiency. Compared to hard disk-based storage systems, it offers a lower total cost of ownership, and its “air gap” protection — physical separation from the network — significantly reduces risks related to cyber threats, ransomware, and hardware failures. Kenichi Otaki, Head of Data Storage Solutions at Fujifilm Corporation, commented: “As the global leader in data storage media, Fujifilm remains committed to developing high-performance, reliable solutions that meet the evolving needs of enterprise customers.”
